How much does crawl space encapsulation cost?
Vapor barrier only is often $2–$4 per sq ft. Standard encapsulation is often $3–$7. A full system with a dehumidifier is often $7–$14. Most companies have a job minimum around $1,500.
Why is labor such a large share?
Labor is often 50–70% of the job. Crawling, cutting, sealing, and hauling liner takes time. Tight access under 3 ft usually adds about 25%.
Does standing water get included?
Not usually. Encapsulation assumes a space you can dry and seal. Drainage, a sump, or mold remediation is often a separate bill. This calculator adds 30% when you mark standing water or a mold smell, and it still flags that extra work.
Is a per-square-foot quote enough?
Only if it states liner thickness, sealed vents, piers, rim joists, and whether a dehumidifier is included. A low per-foot number that skips those items is not comparable.
